Expression Beyond Music: Letting Creativity Wander

As composers, it’s easy to feel like everything has to come back to music. Every idea, every emotion—somehow translated into sound.

But I’ve found that expression doesn’t have to be limited that way.

Sometimes I sketch or doodle. There’s no plan going in—I’m not trying to draw anything specific. My hand just moves, and my mind follows. It becomes less about control and more about observation.

By the end of it, I’ve created something I actually enjoy looking at. And interestingly, a few of those doodles have ended up becoming artwork for my upcoming tracks.

It made me realize that creativity isn’t confined to one medium. Sometimes stepping away from music is what feeds it the most.

Do you have a creative outlet outside your main craft that surprises you?
